Weekly Music Video

Today's video is Bang by American singer Nicole Scherzinger. She is most famous for being the lead singer of vocal/dance group The Pussycat Dolls but is now a solo artist and X-Factor UK judge.

Nicole started her career as part of girl group Eden's Crush in 2001. They were formed on the American version of the reality show Popstars. I remember Nicole appeared with Eden's Crush in an episode of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch! Eden's Crush split-up in late 2001/early 2002 and she went on to join the Pussycat Dolls (PCD) in 2003.

In  September 2006 Nicole featured on rapper and producer Diddy/P.Diddy's single Come To Me and the following July she released her debut single Whatever U Like featuring rapper T.I. She brought out 3 more singles that year including Baby Love featuring rapper, producer and Black Eyed Pea will.iam (which later appeared on a bonus CD as part of PCD's 2nd album Doll Domination) and Supervillan. She planned to release her debut album Her Name is Nicole in 2007 but the singles didn't do too well and the album was cancelled.

Nicole left the Pussycat Dolls in late 2010. A month later she released the single Poison, the first single from her debut album Killer Love which came out in March 2011. Poison did well in the UK and Ireland, reaching No 3 in the UK Singles Chart and 7 in the Irish charts. Killer Love was a bestseller in the UK. It was also released in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and other European countries including Switzerland, France and Germany  but I don't think it ever got a proper American release, although Nicole did record some new songs for an American version. Other singles from the album were Don't Hold Your Breath (a UK No 1)  ad Wet. She also re-released Killer Love (an international version) with  some extra songs and the singles from that release are Right There featuring rapper 50 Cent and Try With Me. (Right There is on the original album bu it doesn't feature 50 Cent).

In May 2014  Nicole released Your Love, the first single from her second album Big Fat Lie which came out in October that year. Other singles from the album are Run, On The Rocks and Bang, although I'm unsure if Bang was released in the UK because I wasn't aware it was a single until today. She has collaborated with  several other artists on singles, including American rapper/producer Timbaland and singer Keri Hilson with Come To Me and Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias with Heartbeat.

In addition to singing Nicole has been involved in film and TV. In 2010 she appeared as a guest judge on the 7th series of the British The X-Factor and was popular with viewers. She returned in 2012 and 2013 and is currently a judge on the latest series. Her films include Chasing Papi (2003), Men In Black 3 (2012) and the new Disney animation Moana which is set for release at the end of the year.

Bang is from Big Fat Lie. I have both Nicole's albums and prefer BFL to Killer Love; it has more good songs on it in my opinion. I only recently found out that there's a music video for Bang and as I mentioned before, I'm not sure if was actually released as a single over here.  It's my favourite song on the album. :)

J Soul Brothers (Japanese boyband)

I don't know that many Japanese boybands. It's funny but I mostly know Korean groups and Japanese solo singers! I know KAT-TUN, Arashi (although they're more of a rock group, I think) and Hey! Say! JUMP but not many more. A friend recently introduced to me the band (or vocal and dance unit) J Soul Brothers, so I thought today I'd do a post about them. And of course it fits into the J-pop and K-pop theme I'm doing this month! This is a good opportunity to find more J-pop boybands too. :)

The J Soul Brothers were originally formed in 1998 but have gone through two line-up changes. The current incarnation- full title Sandaime (Third Generation) J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE* or J Soul Brothers III- was formed in 2010 by HIRO who is the leader of Japanese boyband EXILE (which has an impressive 19 members!) and founding member of the First Generation J Soul Brothers.  It was decided that EXILE and former Nidaimie (Second Generation) J Soul Brothers members NAOTO and …

Dance Videos

It's time for another dance post! I thought I'd feature both modern dance and belly dance today. :)

First of all here are a couple of dance videos by choreographer Rumer Noel. This is one to Everyday by Ariana Grande that was uploaded in January. According to comments on YouTube the man dancing with Rumer at the beginning is called Lucas la Parada.

Dance Moms- Chloe Update

Series/Season 7 of American reality show Dance Moms is currently showing in the UK and I recently heard that one of the original dancers Chloe Lukasiak will be returning for the finale.

Chloe and her mum Christi weren't liked by the dance teacher and studio owner Abby Lee Miller and Christi often clashed with Abby. They left at the end of Series 4. Abby treated Chloe horribly in my opinion, once referring to her as "that girl over there" instead of her name. I always disliked the way Abby punishes the girls if she falls out with their mothers. Also Abby seemed to want to Chloe to fail in competitions, which was weird because she was one of her students representing her!! I think she just wants to be proven right a lot of the time. Chloe was my favourite out of the original girls (Chloe, Maddie, Nia, Mackenzie, Brooke  ans Paige, although Kendall joined quite early on) and I was glad for her when she finally left because she didn't have to put up with being treated li…
