So Sharp: Dance Squad

So Sharp: Dance Squad is an American reality TV series about the University of Louisville Ladybird Dance Team run by Todd Sharp. It's set in Louisville, Kentucky. As you'll know if you follow this blog, I'm a fan of dance reality shows such as Dance Moms and Bring It! So I was interested when So Sharp started in the UK a few weeks ago. Todd is head coach along with Sheryl Knight, a former Ladybird herself. Todd has also coached the Floyd Central Dazzlers. The team have won 15 national championships so far. As with the other dance reality shows, there's a lot of drama! Marissa Hall is close to Todd and describes him as like a father to her. She is considered one of the best dancers and her close relationship with Todd rubs some people up the wrong way, particularly Michelle Carpenter. Rose Crombie is one of Marissa's main rivals but according to the Decidr article about the team (see below) they're close. Gabrielle Iannone struggles sometimes with the chore

Weekly Music Video

Today's video is SHINE FOREVER by Korean boyband MONSTA X . It was released in June and is from the group's debut album which originally came out in March as The Clan Pt. 2.5: The Final Chapter, and was then re-released in June as SHINE FOREVER. I think on Pops in Seoul they said that it's a love song. :)  You can watch MONSTA X's dance practise for this song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh4qF6bIVnI MONSTA X fan? Check out this post for another of their videos :  https://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/new-k-pop-releases.html

Turkish and Arabic Songs

Since my belly dance classes recently started again after a break over the summer and I'm also going to the belly dance event South Coast Shimmy tonight, I thought I'd post a round-up of Turkish and Arabic songs, plus a couple of songs I haven't mentioned before. :) Turkish Arman:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2013/08/weekly-music-video_28.html Atiye (also features Kenan Dogulu): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2015/04/girls-vs-boys-turkish.html Davut Gulogu: https://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/weekly-music-video.html https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2012/11/weekly-musi-video.html Gökhan Türkmen: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/08/weekly-music-video_27.html Hadise: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/08/weekly-music-video_7.html https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2015/07/weekly-music-video.html Hadise and Davut Gulogu: https://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/girls-vs-boys-turkish.html Kenan DoÄŸulu (see Atiye

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Find You, the latest single by Nick Jonas . As with his last single Remember I Told You , it's not from his latest album Last Year Was Complicated (released in 2016). Nick has said that the song is about the journey of finding love. Find You came out on 14th September. It's a nice, chilled out song that goes more "dancey" on the chorus.

Bollywood/Hollywood Thrillers

As I've mentioned before, quite a few Bollywood films are based on Hollywood ones. (And sometimes films from other countries as well). So for this post I'm featuring a couple of Bollywood films and the Hollywood movies they were based on. This post contains spoilers. :) Aitraaz/Disclosure Aitraaz (2004) is the film that inspired this post! The Bollywood film channel B4U Movies is free to air at the moment and I watched Aitraaz last night. I first saw it years ago (rented it on video from the library!). It's a remake of the 1994 film Disclosure starring Michael Douglas and Demi Moore , and since I have Disclosure saved on my Sky planner I watched it again last night as well! Aitraaz (which translates as "Objection") is also based on the real life case of American basketball player Kobe Bryant . The film is about businessman Raj Malhotra ( Akshay Kumar ) who works for a mobile phone company. He is happily married to Priya ( Kareena Kapoor ) and they are

Weekly Music Video

Today's video (or audio) is I Got Time by Bebe Rexha . It's from her new EP All Your Fault: Pt. 2. I have her first EP All Your Fault: Pt. 1 which came out in February. I don't like Pt. 2 as much but I like some songs and I Got Time is my favourite. :) I recently bought it on iTunes . All Your Fault: Pt. 2 was released last month. Please note that the song is explicit. :) Listen to songs from Pt. 1 (Bebe's debut EP) here: http://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/new-bebe-rexha-ep.html

Tollywood and Bollywood Videos

I haven't posted any Tollywood videos for ages, so I thought I'd share one today and also a Bollywood video, since I had planned to post more about Bollywood this year! Tollywood First up this is Seeti Maar from the Tollywood film DJ - Duvvada Jagannadham . It's an action comedy which came out in June and is about a man called Duvvada Jagannadham (played by Allu Arjun ), a Brahmin priest who moonlights as DJ,  a crime fighter in disguise (like a superhero!). He falls in love with Pooja ( Pooja Hegde ) who is involved with a crime boss. This is a dance scene from the movie. The playback singers are Jaspreet Jasz and Rita . Bollywood And here is Piya More from the Bollywood film Baadshaho which stars Ajay Devgn , Emraan Hashmi (one of my favourite actors), Ileana D'Cruz , Esha Gupta and Vidyut Jamwal . The film is set during the Emergency time period in the mid 70s. Indian queen Gitanjali (played by Ileana who started out in Tollywood) asks her bod

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is GOLD by Japanese girl group Happiness . They are a group in their own right and also part of the band E-girls (currently 11 members strong) . Happiness members are Miyuu Ariiso (the leader), Sayaka Nagatomo, Karen Fuji, Kaede Dobashi, Ruri Kawamoto, Yurino Suzuiki and Anna Suda. (You will also see their names written the other way round, since in Japan the surname comes first). Former members are Mimu Hikoi and Mayu Sugieda. Miyuu (stage name is spelt MIYUU) left E-girls in June but is still a member of Happiness. Happiness were formed in 2009 and to date have released 10 singles, including debut Kiss Me, Wish, JUICY LOVE,  Holiday, Sexy Young Beautiful, REWIND  and GOLD; and two albums, Happy Time (2012) and GIRLZ 'N EFFECT (2016). They are part of the new E.G. Family collective and linked to other E-girls spin-off groups Dream (now disbanded) and Flower. Their male counterpart is EXILE TRIBE . GOLD is Happiness' latest singles and will be rel
