And more Mariah songs!

Since there are so many Mariah Carey songs to choose from, here is a follow up post to Top 10 Mariah Carey Songs and More Mariah songs.

I Still Believe

This is the original version, which appeared on #1's (1998). It was released as a single in 1999. I prefer the Pure Imagination remix (see Top 10 post) but I  like this as well.

Boy (I Need You) feat. Cam'ron

This was the 2nd single from Charmbraclet (2002). It's based on rapper Cam'ron's song Oh Boy.

Someday

Someday was released in 1990 and was the 3rd single from Mariah's self titled debut album. I think the single version is a bit different to the album one, at least if it's the same as the version in the official music video. I'd never even heard the other version till I looked it up on YouTube for this post.

The Beautiful Ones feat. Dru Hill

This is on Butterfly (1997). It's one of my favourite songs on the album. It wasn't released as a single. The Beautiful Ones is a cover of Prince's song.

Prisoner

Prisoner is another song from Mariah Carey (1990). It was never a single either. Mariah raps in this! Click Watch on YouTube to see the lyrics.

Don't Forget About Us

Don't Forget About Us was the fifth single from the re-release of The Emancipation Of Mimi (Ultra Platinum Edition), which was released in November 2005, 7 months after the original album came out. It was the only single from the re-release. I have both versions but prefer the Ultra Platinum Edition because you got more songs on it! lol.

Stay The Night

This track is from The Emancipation of Mimi (both versions). I really like it. :)

I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time feat. T.I.

This was the third single from E=MC2 (2008). T.I. doesn't feature on the album version.

Stay tuned for another post on even more Mariah songs! :)

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences.  The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix). I had previously heard the

Debut XG Mini Album

Japanese girl group XG have released their 1st mini album. It's called NEW DNA and was released on 27th September. XG (whose name is short for Xtraordinary Girls) made their debut in March last year and have brought out 7 singles so far- Tippy Toes, MASCARA, LEFT RIGHT/SHOOTING STAR double single), GVRL GANG , TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. The first 3 songs (or 4 including the double single) aren't on the mini album. The concept behind NEW DNA is that of being a "new species" free from conventions and limitations .  Although the group is Japanese, their creation was inspired by Korean music and they are based in South Korea. They have released songs in English so far and have been described as a global group and "X-pop". NEW DNA consists of 6 tracks- HESONO, X-GENE, GVRL GANG, TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. It is an R'n'B/pop mini album with influences from other genres, such as K-pop, dance and hip hop. My favourite song is PUPPET SHOW. I al
